In July 2023 I was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer, which I had been living with for a number of years before my diagnosis. I underwent surgery and attended multiple scans to ensure the cancer was gone. Unfortunately, a year later, I went for one of my routine scans, and the cancer had come back also spreading to all near by lymph nodes. The last month for me has been one of the toughest I have ever had to endure but I am feeling stronger and more positive everyday. During the month of October I will be undergoing a second surgery and soon after a form of radiotherapy known as radioactive iodine treatment to hopefully get rid of the cancer for one last time.
I am doing sober October not only for me, but for everyone else, including people I know, living with any form of cancer as macmillan has been a great support throughout my journey and I would love to raise as much money as I can.
